UserTesting: what participants should know
UserTesting pays contributors to record themselves thinking aloud while they use websites and apps, plus surveys and live video calls, after an unpaid practice test. Pay is shown before you accept a test and goes to PayPal about 14 days later unless the customer cancels it.

The facts
| Who can join | Adults 18+ fluent in English, French or German, with a microphone, a supported device and a verified PayPal account. Availability depends on demand where you live. |
|---|---|
| Study types | Recorded unmoderated tests (screen and voice), surveys, and scheduled live conversations. |
| Typical pay (UserTesting's published Custom Network rates) | About $4 for a 5–7 minute test, $10 for a standard 15–20 minute test, $30 for a 30-minute live conversation and $60 for an hour. Other tests show their pay on the dashboard. |
| Fees | None stated; PayPal handles currency conversion. |
| How you're paid | PayPal only, in USD. |
| When | About 14 days after the test, during which the customer can approve or cancel the payment. |
| Verification | Email, a completed profile, PayPal, and an unpaid 7–10 minute practice test reviewed by their team. |
| How selection works | Tests appear for contributors who match each customer's filters, often followed by screener questions; spots fill on a first-come basis. |
| Rules worth knowing | Answer screeners honestly. No AI-written responses. Payment can be cancelled for skipped tasks, little audio or rushing. One account and one PayPal per person. No tax is withheld. |
| Referral programme | None found on its current contributor pages. |
